So here’s the plan. We will charge in Thunder Bay the night before we drive 462 km to Catfish Lake.
It’s about a 5 hour drive so we can take turns driving. We can charge the car in Nipigon and again in Terrace Bay at Drifters Motel while we have some lunch. We do not need to worry about range when we get to Catfish Lakefront Cabins (https://www.
Things are going well; we pull into Catfish Lakefront Cabins with 102 kms left in the battery. We get settled in and I start the planning for the Sault Ste Marie trip and discover that the only charging station in Wawa is out of service! Not enough juice to get to the Sault and not enough to back track to Terrance Bay. The song ‘Stuck in the middle with you’ pops into my head.
Not to worry, remember Level 3, Level 2, Level 1 charging?
We talked with the owners Natalie and there is not a problem, her husband Lee will move his truck and we can plug in at their place overnight and will have the range for the Sault Ste. Marie trip covered. Thank you, Natalie and Lee, and Level 1 charging!
And a shout out again to Sylvia in Buena Vista for letting us plug in there as well! Thank You!
“Range Anxiety” is not exclusive to electric cars!
